Quick answer: Debt review is a legal process under the National Credit Act that restructures your debt into one affordable monthly payment and protects you from new legal action on the accounts included. North West residents can start with a free assessment by phone or WhatsApp.

Close to Pretoria, handled remotely

Many of our North West clients are a short drive from our office, and you are welcome to visit us in Pretoria. Most never need to: your application, documents and monthly support all work by phone, WhatsApp and email.

If your income has changed, for example through short time or a retrenchment in the household, tell us at your assessment. We look at what you earn now, not what you earned last year.

Areas we serve in North West

Your municipal account and debt review

Rates, water and electricity accounts with your local municipality are not credit agreements, so they cannot be included in debt review. We budget for them as essential expenses so your plan stays affordable.

How debt review works

Five steps, usually over 3 to 5 years. We handle the paperwork, the negotiations and the court application.

1. Assess

A free, no-obligation look at your income, living costs and debt, to see whether you are over-indebted.

2. Protect

We notify your credit providers and the credit bureaus. From then on they may not start new legal action on the accounts included.

3. Restructure

We negotiate lower instalments and interest with each credit provider, so the total fits your budget.

4. Order

Your restructured plan is made an order of the magistrate’s court, or confirmed by the National Consumer Tribunal.

5. Clear

You pay one amount a month through an NCR-registered payment distribution agency until you receive your clearance certificate.

Timing matters: if a credit provider has already sent you a Section 129 notice on an account, that account can no longer be included in debt review. Contact us as soon as you start falling behind, not when the summons arrives.

What debt review costs

Debt counselling fees are capped by law, and your first conversation with us costs nothing.
Your first assessmentFree, no obligation
Application feeR50, once-off
Restructuring feeYour first restructured instalment, capped at R8,000 (R9,000 for a joint application by spouses married in community of property)
Aftercare fee5% of your monthly instalment, capped at R450 a month

Fees are set by the National Credit Regulator and exclude VAT. Payment distribution agency fees and any legal costs are separate, and we explain every amount in writing before you sign anything.

Frequently asked questions

Can a Pretoria debt counsellor really help me in another province?

Yes. The National Credit Act, the debt review process and the NCR fee caps are the same in every province, and our registration covers the whole country. Your application is lodged electronically, your plan is made an order of your local magistrate’s court, and everything else is handled by phone, WhatsApp and email.

Which court makes my plan an order?

The magistrate’s court for the area where you live, or the National Consumer Tribunal. We prepare and handle the application from our office, and in most cases you do not need to attend.

I was retrenched. Can I still go under debt review?

Debt review needs some regular income to pay the restructured amount, so we look at what you earn now, including a new job, a partner’s income or other regular income. Contact us and we will tell you honestly whether it can work for you.

How do I send my documents?

By WhatsApp or email. A clear photo or PDF of your ID, payslips, bank statements and account statements is enough to get started.

Will my employer find out?

Debt review is never published and we do not contact your employer. A debt review flag does appear on your credit report, so anyone who runs a credit check with your consent will see it until you are cleared.

Ready to find out where you stand?

Find out in one conversation whether debt review is right for you. The assessment is free and does not commit you to anything.
