Quick answer: Debt review is a legal process under the National Credit Act that restructures your debt into one payment you can afford and protects you from new legal action on the accounts included. If you live in Emfuleni, Midvaal or Lesedi, start with a free assessment by phone, WhatsApp or our online form.

Debt review in the Vaal, without the travel

You do not need to drive to Pretoria. We take your details over the phone or WhatsApp, you send your documents digitally, and we lodge your application with your credit providers and the credit bureaus. Your restructured plan is made an order of the magistrate’s court for your area, and you pay one amount a month by debit order.

You deal with one small team throughout, led by Leandie Brink, a registered debt counsellor with more than 15 years’ experience.

What you will need to send us

Areas we serve in Sedibeng

Your municipal account and debt review

Rates, water and electricity accounts with Emfuleni, Midvaal or Lesedi are not credit agreements under the National Credit Act, so they cannot be included in debt review. We build them into your budget as essential expenses, so the debt review payment we agree is one you can keep up with alongside your municipal bill.

How debt review works

Five steps, usually over 3 to 5 years. We handle the paperwork, the negotiations and the court application.

1. Assess

A free, no-obligation look at your income, living costs and debt, to see whether you are over-indebted.

2. Protect

We notify your credit providers and the credit bureaus. From then on they may not start new legal action on the accounts included.

3. Restructure

We negotiate lower instalments and interest with each credit provider, so the total fits your budget.

4. Order

Your restructured plan is made an order of the magistrate’s court, or confirmed by the National Consumer Tribunal.

5. Clear

You pay one amount a month through an NCR-registered payment distribution agency until you receive your clearance certificate.

Timing matters: if a credit provider has already sent you a Section 129 notice on an account, that account can no longer be included in debt review. Contact us as soon as you start falling behind, not when the summons arrives.

What debt review costs

Debt counselling fees are capped by law, and your first conversation with us costs nothing.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to travel to your Pretoria office?

No. The whole process works by phone, WhatsApp and email, from your free assessment to your clearance certificate. You are welcome to visit our office in Strubenkop, Pretoria during office hours if you prefer to meet face to face.

Which court makes my plan an order?

Your restructured plan is made an order of the magistrate’s court for the area where you live, or confirmed by the National Consumer Tribunal. We prepare and handle the application for you, and in most cases you do not need to attend.

When are my creditors stopped?

Once we lodge your application and notify your credit providers and the credit bureaus, they may not start new legal action on the accounts included in debt review, provided they had not already sent you a Section 129 notice on that account.

How long does debt review take?

Most plans run for 3 to 5 years, depending on how much you owe and what you can afford each month.

Will my employer find out?

Debt review is never published and we do not contact your employer. A debt review flag does appear on your credit report, so anyone who runs a credit check with your consent will see it until you are cleared.

Ready to find out where you stand?
